Under 21 Hurling Championship

In the first round of the hurling championship the Barrs faced a very strong Naomh Barrog team. The Bogies was in good condition even though the going was a little bit heavey with the weather. A good crowd from both teams wrapped themselves up on this cold damp Saturday in November.

The players from both sides gave a good honest account of themselves as no quarter was given or asked for in a very entertaining game of hurling. The Barrs started and ended slow.

They played for twenty minutes and it was in this period they won the game. Our team all over the park showed great commitment and effort with quality players like Dillon, Doddill, Smithers, McDonica, Cummins and Forgarty we had enough power to win on a score line of 5-8 to 1-11.

Andy Kavanagh had a solid game at full back with Billy Hyland, Johnny Morgan and Wayne Dempsey giving a 100% commitment. Steven O’Farrell gave a great display of marking at centre field with Shane Cummins touch on the forty been razor sharp.

A good performance all round from the managers and players. Daniel Commins tried hard but the man 0f the match performance went to the claw Davie Doogan. We play the semi final in the Bogies in two weeks time so come out and support the lads!!
