U15 Hurling Champions

Our U15s won the C Hurling Championship against Craobh Chiaran in Blakestown on a scoreline of 3-21 to 4-10. A large crowd travelled up to the game to support the lads. Having beaten Thomas Davis and Castleknock already in the championship, we went into the game full of confidence.

The game started badly for us, however as Craobh scored two early goals and seemed to have us in all sorts of trouble. Our lads kept their heads and stuck to the job at hand. We ignored the urge to go for goal and kept chipping away at their lead with points from Pierce O’Brien, Adam Milne and Brian Draper. Towards the end of the first half we had a dominant spell, where we scored 5 unanswered points to close the gap to just one at the break, 2-6 to 0-11. Adam Milne switched from full forward to wing back and began to get on top in the half back line, supported by AJ Ruth, Brook Owens and Jordan Fitzimons in the backline. Glen Doddrill and Nathan Masterson also got on top in midfield and the forwards continuing to pop over points.

The second half continued like the first with both teams go toe to toe for the next 20 minutes. Both teams crashed in 2 goals with ours coming from substitute Glen Lyons and the impressive Conor Carbury, now at centre forward. Brian Draper and Tyler Kinsella were causing them all sorts of problems in on the square. The game was now developing into a classic and was still very much in the balance. It was the last 10 minutes however where the game was ultimately won. We finished much the stronger team and we powered away with points from Chris O’Brien and a Pierce O’Brien goal leaving the final score 3-21 to 4-10.

The final whistle was greeted by great celebrations by players and supporters. Pierce O’Brien collected the man of the match award at the presentation and the Chairman of the County Board handed over the cup to captain Adam Milne.
