Sancta Maria Function a Great Success

Saturday, October 16th, 2010

The fundraiser held by the club for Sancta Maria senior citizen centre was a great success. The nights entertainment was top class as all the budding music talent from Cabra and well known stars playing for free to raise money for the centre.

The club want to thank all the young dancers and school performers who started the show off in great fashion. Noel Brady of the famous ‘Indian Group’ put on a great show as the crowd was treated to some 70′s and 80′s music from his wide rapture.

Craig Gallagher and Gavin Wigglesworth finished up the night with some great music and songs, X factor eat your heart out! There was great prizes in the raffle and the club would like to thank the many people who donated these prizes.

The people who ran the night and who should get the most prise are Dave Farrell from Club Cabs, Lynn Murray, Kelly Brennan, Nial Brady (bar manager) and our own local councillor Seamus McGrattan.

To all the people who supported the night and who gave donations, a really big thank you. Our area needs this centre for our older members and it’s important it’s kept going as it is of great benefit to our community.

Champions

On a cold Saturday afternoon near the Dublin Meath border, our senior footballers played Clann Mhuire in the last game of the league.

A win would give the Barrs the league while a loss would put us in a play off with a number of teams in the running. In a tense low scoring first half, the Barrs found it hard to settle and should of been ahead by six points against a very hard working Clann Mhuire team.

Nerves were getting the better of our squad as the teams went in level, four points a piece at half time. The move of Keith Russell out to the half foward and a two man inside line paid off as Gerry Doddrill kicked three great points in a matter of minutes. (more…)
