Football League Winners 2011

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

On the last day of our festival week our second football team beat Ballymun to secure the division seven title after a fantastic run of wins since February. This team have been unbeaten right through the season with only one point dropped in fourteen matches.

Great credit must go to the management team of David Murphy ,Ciaran Stone, Ray O Reilly, Bridget Sweetman, Davie Farrell and Stephen Gallagher the football coach of the team. This was the football team that our great Gossie last played for and he was looking forward all season to collect a junior league medal which he always wanted.

The lads did not let him down and in a great morning in the Bogies, his son Anthony presented the cup to winning capten Brian Carr. It was great to see all the Costello family in the Bogies for the game. This team are still in the Junior C championship and great expectations are been expected of this team going all the way which would be fantastic.

Management are not sitting on their laurels as there is great work been done getting ready for the championship. It is a great result for the club and hopefully we can keep the momentum going and get our second team into the intermediate leagues which would be great for our senior team.

Hopefully some of this team will progress onto our first team next year. Great credit to management and players for a great season for the team and club. A great article in the evening Hearld by Diarmuid Geraghty on the match and team.
