Weekend Games

Our-Comm

There were four Hurling games played which started in the Bogies on Thursday night with a Junior match against the Civil Service. The match had a good intensity in it but the Civil Service were much sharper in front of goal and that was the difference.

The Senior Hurlers travelled out to Naomh Mearnóg with great hopes of going into the quarter final of the championship but fell very flat on the night to a more hungry Mearnóg team who played well as a unit. The second Junior hurling team played very well out in St Judes and only lost by three points. (more…)

Junior Hurlers

The senior camogie team had a good win against Ballyboden in a friendly match on Tuesday. The under 12 hurlers won their two matches against Na Fianna and O’Tooles in the comaint tournament.

There was great hurling preformed by all the teams. The two Junior hurling teams are playing tonight and the Senior Hurlers are away to Naomh Mearnóg on Friday night at 7-30 away. Our best wishes to Eammon ‘ Troller’ Dillon and the Dublin Minor team on their All Ireland quarter final against Antrim in Crossmaglen on Sunday.

We will also be wishing the best to the Dublin senior football team and our club GPO big Eamo Fennell, we are still there, and that’s the main thing. Roads leagues start next week and all help is welcome, women or men, to help or manage teams. Contact Seamus McGratten, our Juvenile Chairperson, for details.

Johnny Brown has organised a hill walking and sport activity weekend for the under 15 Camogie team in Glendeisan Co Wicklow on the 29th July. Please contact the club reception on 01 868 6209 for further details.

Under 21 Leinster GAA Hurling Final Dublin v Wexford

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Dublin U21's

Dublin beat Wexford in the Leinster final at Parnell Park on a fine summers night in Donnycarney.

Having been picked up by Terry Carton and Seamus Mc Gratten at the club house we left Cabra expecting a win. With great value at  €10 entrance fee, we made our way to the standing terrace where we met Joe Brady and Joe Lyons.

A crowd of over 5,000 created a great atmosphere as the game started with Wexford looking the sharper team. Dublin found it hard to get going especially in the forward line with Rush and Stapleton been well marked by the Wexford defence.

Minor Hurling Report

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

As the first rain of June fell on the Boggies Eddie Walker (the O’Tooles Ref) started the game late on a very warm night in Cabra. This Minor GAA Hurling game against St Kevins was the last league match of the season with St Kevins unbeaten and the Barrs only three points behind them.

Having lost the last three encounters over the last three years to St Kevins, the Barrs were out to break this loosing run. In a fast open game that was well refereed, the Barrs dominated from start to finish with a great display of strength, skill and determination.

Man of the match performance by Daniel Cummins provided the foundation for the Barrs to win by 5-10 to 1-13. Even though they lost St Kevins qualified for the league final and we wish them all the best in that match.

Dublin Minors Loose out in Final

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Dublin lost out in the Minor Hurling final to Kilkenny at the weekend. The Irish Times  highlighted matters could have been worse for Dublin had it not been for two saves by one of our own, goalkeeper Eamon Dillon. He saved from John Power, and he also did well to stop a shot from Aylward in the second half.

You can read the full match report on The Irish Times.
