                                                   Senior Comigie Team 2012

Our senior camogie team lost out to Kilmacud on Tuesday night by three points. Having started so well and leading by ten points they fell away in the second half and conceded easy goals to be beaten in the end. Great turn out from the players but need to keep the numbers up if they are going to win the shield.

The big matches this week end is the All Ireland senior and minor football finals. Donegal and Mayo are both deseverent to win a All Ireland but there can only be one winner. The favourites are Donegal who have a powerful team. Great job done by players and management to build such a great set up. Mayo have done well to get to this final. My heart and brain says Donegal yet there is a feeling with in me that Mayo might have such hunger after all the set backs over the year to have enough to win. So I will go for that instinct.

The club wish best of luck to Dessie Farrell and the minor players against Meath. They are going in as firm favorites but they have to be careful of Meath as Tipperary showed last year. Hope Dessie does the job. He has always supported our club over the years by giving his time free to many a juvenile and senior presentation.

On the club front there is a full schedule of matches this week end. On Saturday if you have a hour or so drop into the Bogie’s and see some of our under age talent in action. 8s,9, in the afternoon it is the 14 and 16. Sunday morning at ten the under 15 hurlers play championship while the second adult hurling team play Cuala and the third team play Faughs in Long Meadows.

Having won the  Eircom competition the  club are delighted to welcome Micky Harte to the club house and Bogies on Saturday. He will do a training session with the minors and 16 teams.

The under 10s in Belfast this weekend

Good weekend for our teams over the weekend. On Saturday our under 13 footballers went joint top of the league with a win over O Tooles out in Bulben Drive. Our under 14 won their match in Ringsend against Clann Na Gael in a game that had three different refs.

The under 16s beat St Oafs in the Bogie’s in football on Saturday. On Sunday morning the under 15 beat Setanta by 10 points in the hurling championship.

Our in Parnells ground the second adult football team beat St Bridget’s by a point to book their place in the C championship final against Ballyboden.

In a great team performance the team dug deep to hold on to the points win at the end. It is the first adult football championship final in 12 years for the club.

Thomas Gleason and Eama o Farrell brought their camogie team down to Croke park to watch the all Ireland between Wexford and Cork which was a great match.

Wexford winng the three in a row. Keith Murphy and Steven Naughton brought 22 players team to Belfast to the St Theresa club competition for a over night stay. Thanks to Padar Whelan and the club members of St Theresa for their hospitality.

Dublin Development Squads

Monday, September 10th, 2012

Pearce O Brian in action for Dublin under thirteen Development squad against Westmeath

As Dublin have a number of under age development teams it is interesting to see how many players from the club has made it ont these teams.

Conor Carberry and Pearce O Brian are on the under 13 team. Ian Milline was on the under 14 team till he got injured. We had Chewy Curley on the under 15 team ,no one on the under 16 and Lee Cooney on the under 17 Dublin Development team.

It is very importain for both the players and the club to have players playing at this level as it improves the stander of the players and it helps the club to lift standers within the teams.

Last week I went to this play. Neil Pearson has done a great job on stage of this story. Great acting by the four man preformace team. Has depicted Tom Barry to a tee. Great introduction to Irish history.

Weekend Results Sept 2012

Monday, September 3rd, 2012

Under 8s,9s,10s, at the Jonthon O Reilly 2012

On the playing fields in the parish on the weekend saw the 8s,9s,and 10s, all playing their go games matches in the bogies. The under 13 and 14s were beaten as well as the under 16s away to Ballymun. On Sunday morning our under 13 camogie team put up a good performance in the championship going down by a goal to Lucan. Our under 11 camogie drew with Whitehall.

Our second adult hurling team played Bridget’s in the Bogie’s on Sunday morning. Should of got a result but lack of first touch, discipline, and scoring power lost us the match by two points. Parting on Saturday night and Friday didn’t help the performance either.

Football week this week with matches on Tuesday and Thursday for the third team , matches for the first team on Sat and second team on Sunday morning.

Dublin Defeated and deflated

Monday, September 3rd, 2012

Dublin Under 14 hurling team1972 Croke Park
Another year to wait or will it be another 17 years till Sam comes back to Dublin City. First lets thank the management and players for their effort  all year after all they are only amature players and the pressure of playing for Dublin is probably as big as a player playing professional football for Manchester United.
Were did it go wrong yesterday ? Was it the constant pressure over the last three years that took its toll. Was it the lack of hunger of some of the players who through their social networking didn’t work hard enough.Or was it the fate of of Dublin that on the day they needed a performance it just wasn’t there.
Were the manger and selectors slow in not moving the coner backs after 10 minutes when it was obvious that Mayo were doing the damage in those ares. Centre field again was a problem. Playing three centre field men to acomidate  them is not good for the balance of the team.

You either play Darra Mc Auly with Dennis Bastic or Eamon Fennell but it has been shown that playing the three of them has not worked. Was the leaving of Mc Memum on the line until the last fifteen minutes a wrong choice to make.
Maybe it was a combination off all things mention that lost the game for Dublin. When you look back over this match over the next week or so you will say to your self time and time again how did we loose it. That’s football ,that’s fate.Deflated

Deepest Condolence
