P.J. Troy Cup Winners 2o12: David Owens,Adam Crosby, Jack O Connor, Stephen Dunne,Andrew Dunee, Brook Owens, Frank Farrell, Dylan Joyce, Pearse O Brian, Cillian Dempsey,Brian Draper,Cian Pappard Lenord,Tadhig Stone, Nathan Masterson

In a brilliant run of five unbeaten games this team put in a great performance to win the P.J. Cup for the second time in the clubs history. With most club people not even knowing this tournament was on it is great credit to the mangers and players who brought great honour to the club in festival week. Following on from our success at under 15 and 14 age groups if things are looked after right the club can look forward to good crop of players coming through to our adult teams. Unbeaten in the group having beaten Lucan Sarsfield Faughs and St Judes they met division one team Ballenteer St Johns in the final. This team put in a great team performance which was led by Conor Caberry and Pearse O Breian who both put in outstanding tournament. If the right resources and work continues to be put int these teams hopefully as a club we can look to further progress on the playing fields of Dublin. Again congratulation to the mentors and team from every one in the club.

                                                      2012 P.J.Troy Winners D 2

On Wednesday our senior hurling match was called off due to the bad rain. Both our second and third were out on Sunday morning. Needing a win the second adult team put in a good performance against a young O Tooles team to win by four points. Our third team who on top of their league through hard work were well beaten by a well drilled Crokes team. With six points in it at half time the mountain was two big to climb and we lost our place as leaders of the league with one match left. Four teams now share the top with one match left.

                                                               1940 Fionnbarrs Hurling team

On a general comment about these two teams their is a lot of good work going in from both players and managers. Yet there is a small group of players who seem and think that they can appeared and go when it suits themselves. These players are good players but they dont seem to have the commitment that the blue jersey should get. If we had a full complement of players on Sunday we could of got that result out in Bray. Finishing up on the postive the league is still there for us.

Festeival Week Day three

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012

                                                 Under 15 team in 2010

On day three pride of place goes to our under 15 team who beat O Tooles in the Bogie’s and won their league. Great credit to the players and mentors,Paddy,Shane, Sue ,Keith ,Anto (sn). it was a great occasion in the Bogie’s with a great crowd in attendances.

Our two adult hurling teams had not got the best of luck tonight. Our second team traveled to Rush to play St Maurs and were beaten in the quarter final of the championship by a single point. In a great performance the game looked to be going our way as we led by a point with a few minutes left. Lact of discipline cause us this game and if you don’t finish your game with fifteen players you wont win. Players need to learn this lesson.

Our third team were demoted to the C championship next year after putting up a good performance against Cuala in Dalkey. In a tight game which was in the mix till the end every player gave a hundredth percent. But it was not to be our night losing out by three points in the end. On a positive note both teams had twenty players on both panels which is great to see.

On the social front two great session were had in the clubhouse yesterday afternoon. Over forty women attended the sequence dancing in the back lounge. In the Bar over forty older members had a great Cabra sing song which lasted for over four hours. This was helped along with plenty of Dublin boiled ribs and white pudding topped off with smoke cod. M.C.Spud done a great job with the music from the one and only Bobby Smith. Ronnie still held his title as the best singer at the end of the day.
