Hard luck to our under 14 hurling Faile team who lost out by score differance in division two of the compitision. Coming from divison four to such a high level this is some achivement. They beat Faughs and OP/ER well only going down to Sylvesrter by a few points. Thanks to OP/ER for hosting the day.

Great day was had last Sunday up in the wee county of Louth by our under 12 football team. We took part in a tournament organize by Oliver Plunketts from Drodeada. Thanks to Robert Brady and the host team for inviting us.

Our Adult second team had a hard fought win against a brave Parnell team in the quarter final of C Championship. Our fitness and discipline laid the foundation for the win on a score line of 1-10 to 0-5 points. We will need to work hard to win the semifinal as the big clubs like St Bridget’s, Na Fianna, and Lucan Sarfeilds are still left in the competition. Some good individual performance in a very workman like performance.

Our Weekend results for our adult teams were disapointing. Our senior hurlers had a great chance of progressing in the A championship but lost by two pints in Parnell park on Friday night to Na Fianna. In a game of two halfs the lack of firepower lets us down.

On Sunday morning in the B championship we were beaten by St Bridits by a point on a score line of 1-9 to 1-8. From all reports we should of got a result but again lack of firepower let us down again.

In the C championship in Mobhi road on Sunday morning  our third team after a very good first half  faded away in the second half to be beaten on ascore line of 3-12 to 0-9 points.

Our under 16 hurlers after a promising start were beatwn by Kilmacude Crokes in the Bogies on Sathurday. Our under 15 hurlers had a good win against Thomas Davis out there. Our under 14 won in the bogies on Sathurday and our under 12 played in a touroment up in o Louth.

Fixture this week are Tuesday night friendly for Division six team in Bogies. Our inter team play Naomh Barrog in St Margerets on Wenesday night in championship.

Our Adult six team play Parnells in Bogies in Quater final of championship on Sunday morning .Minors play after this game.

Liam Sneyd was born in Cabra West on Kilkiernan Road in 1948. He played for St Finbarrs as a school boy and was a member of the winning team in 1961 in Croke Park that won the Geraldine Cup.

His teacher and coach was Padd Byrne (Paddy Ban O’Broin). He also played Senior football and Junior hurling for the Barrs up until 1968. He emigrated to Canada that year.

He has great memories of  the many years he played with the Barrs. The great friends he had were Sean, Paddy, Dick, Martin Moyles (RiP), Sean Watters (RiP), Brindsly Louth, Dave Barry & Lar O’Shea to name a few.

All this information was sent in  email from Canada yesterday by Liam. He sends his best wishes to all his old pals in the club and best wishes to the Barrs in the future. We want to thank Liam for his email and information.
