Our U15′s won the Football C Championship in Clonshaugh on Sunday morning. In a very exciting game the Barrs produced some great scores to win on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-6 against Trinity Gaels.
There were great performances from Ryan Curley,Lee Cooney, Wayne Losty and Sean Tobin. Scott Curley scored a great goal which put the Barrs on the road to victory. The team preformance was first class with every player giving a hundred per cent.
The work of Naill Brady, Ciaran Kehoe, Gerry Weldon and Harry O’Farrell has paid off this year. The club want to thank them for their work. We would also like to thank Gerry O’Reilly and Ian McDonald of the senior team, who had conducted training sessions with the team over the last few weeks.
A big thanks to the rest of the senior team and supporters who were there this morning in support of the team. Lee Cooney got best player of the tournament and was presented with a lovely trophy after the game.
Our U12′s team beat St Vincents today to win the Division 5 of the hurling league. Having won the football league last week, this was a great result for the Manager Christy Hannon and his players. They have worked very hard over the last year and even when things were not going well they showed faith and loyalty to the club and themselves.
There will be a presentation to this team in a week or so as they deserve great praise. A word of thanks also to Robert Abbott who was a co selector with Christy for most of the year.
The Barrs junior hurlers won the Johnny Murphy Cup in our dear neighbours ground, Martin Savage Park, today. Oliver Plunkets/Eoghan Ruadh, Naomh Fionnbarra, Peregines and a Plunketts all star team played in this tournament.
This was a great way to round off a good year for the junior team who have seen all their hard work over the winter months pay off. Hopefully they can go on from this to secure promotion and another good run in the championship.
The cup was named after Johnny Murphy who has given Plunketts years of service mending hurley’s and running the junior team over the years. The club want to thank OP/ER for the invite as our hurlers enjoyed the day out.
Congratulations must also go to Bernard Brogan on his excellent achievements for the Dubs and to OP/ER’s senior hurlers who were promoted to Division 2.
A meeting for all adult managers, club coaches and physical trainers takes place next week. Its aim is to review the years progress and see what we can do to improve again for next years season.
