The junior footballers lined out at home against Kilmacud Crokes in Adult League 7 today. The Barrs played very well and ran out winners 4-14 to 0-09.
The team are now in with a shout for a promotion play off, well done to all the lads as the hard work over the winter in pre-season training has really paid off!!
The U8′s travel out to Man of War this morning. There will be a double header in the Bogies in the morning with the minor hurlers playing Kevin’s in the championship and the junior footballers playing in the league.
The comogie team have a friendly with a team from Galway which is yet to be confirmed. There seems to be a lact of commitment by the senior comogie team as the attendance at training has been really bad over the last number of weeks. Lets get the act together girls!!
The U11′s travel out to Garristown as well as the U12′s. The U14′s have a trip to Rathcool against Commercials and the under 13′s play Erins Isle in Finglas in a top of the table clash.
Our U10′s team competed in the St. Theresa tournament in Belfast at the weekend. The team had a great time and were well looked after by our hosts.
Over thirty teams took part in the competition with the Barrs winning the shield for the second year running. The club would like to thank the teams mentors, Christy and Dermot, and all the parents who went with the team. We also want to thank Peadar Whelan for the invite.
On a damp wet night out in the north county the Barrs finished their 2010 championship run. A good sized crowd turned up in St Margaret’s GAA Club as St. Olafs and the Barrs locked themselves into a titanic struggle to reach the quarter finals the following Saturday.
St. Olafs went in at half time in front as they hit two goals in the last minute of the half to lead on a score line of 2-4 to1-5. At the end of normal time both teams were tied on the score of 1-10 to 2-7. The Barrs let in a soft goal in the first period of extra time but fought back hard to draw level with a few minutes to go, but unfortunately St. Olafs got a point to run out winners. (more…)
Senior Hurlers
On a warm Saturday evening in the Bogies our senior hurlers played a draw against a well coached St. Vincents team. In front of a big crowd this game went to the wire with the Barrs coming back from the dead in injury time to go a point ahead.
On the last puck of the game St Vincents equalised. The club will have to look at installing video cameras in the goal areas as a number of goals and points decisions went against the team at vital times. It was a very good hurling game from both teams with great scores from both sets of forwards. (more…)
