On Thursday night the 25th of August the club held a special EGM. A full house of full members voted on the issue of giving the lease of a section of the ground we have at our club house back to DCC. They in turn would have to hand it over to the Department of Education for a new school to be build on the site. After a very lively debate there were a lot of questions asked as the motion was put to the floor on the issue of the lease. (more…)
It’s your club and your week, please don’t leave it to the faithful few to do all the work. Be an active part of your club and not a hurler on the ditch as we have six teams playing in that league. Contact Johnny Smithers (sn) or Harry Byrne on the club reception 01 868 6209 to find out how you could get involved.
Welcome to everybody in the Cabra Community to our festival week 2010. We hope there is something in the festival for you, young or old, to enjoy or take part in. Everyday there is some sort of event taking place and is open to everybody in the area.
The opening day will start with a parade from the club house, so come out and join the journey to the Bogies and your Festival week. We want to thank Paul O’Farrell of the Cabra Community Development Project, Dublin City Council, Crios Ri Bowls, Cabra Arts group, our own social committee and all our volunteer workers over the week. We also want to thank our sponsors.
Over the last six Sundays a group of club members having been working voluntary from 11am to 6pm to raise funds for the club by helping out with the sale of programs at Croke Park.
For every program sold the club and the seller, which are our own youth members, get a commission. The club have been organising this fundraising activity since the early 1950′s. Seamus Nolan, a life long member, secured this scheme for us which has been going up to this year.
Over the last year the club has been developing our website to make it easier for our members to renew their subs, play the club lotto and keep up to date all upcoming club events & news.
The site has come along way but it is only the beginning and we hope to add many more useful features over the next little while. We’d like to say a BIG thank you to Frank Hand, who volunteered over the last couple of years to keep the site up to date.
Without him we wouldn’t of had the foundations to develop the club website further. We are grateful for Franks’ contribution as it was very much appreciated by the club members and Cabra community. We would also like to thank Terry Carton who set up our first web page.
